The Revolution of CAD

Computer Aided Design engineering is widely used to design and develop products to be used by end consumers or transitional goods used in other products. CAD is used extensively in engineering process, right from the product conceptualization stage spanning across most stages of the manufacturing process. Use of applications related to Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) gives better and satisfactory results.

CAD technology is used in most of all engineering based fields like architecture, structural, mechanical, civil, automotive, consumer, electronic, electrical, machinery, ship building, aerospace, aircraft and construction, to mention only a few. Architects are used to follow CAD design for buildings while using the software package to enable drawings and designs. CAD enables civil engineers and architects in different of ways like aiding them in structural, electrical, architectural and interior designs, to reveal only a few.

The output of CAD often must communicate also figurative information such as materials, processes, dimensions according to applications - specific conventions. The disparity between a drawing done in CAD software and any other software is that the cad software maintains a mathematical database of all the drawing information, and what you see on your computer screen is merely a visual version of this database.

CAD has revolutionized the entire engineering industries. It is next to impossible to think engineering without CAD. When any people or company wants to outsource their engineering work to domestic or international market; the first thing that they check is CAD and its application’s knowledge. Companies while hiring any new candidates for engineering post, they check candidate’s CAD and its related application knowledge and even they keep a practical test as one of the rounds of interview. The score of this round is extremely important in order to finalize any candidates.

Engineering industries, particularly mechanical engineering related companies; use CAD in a many different ways. Like, engineering drawings to 3D modeling,
CAD design is used in almost of the development process. 3D modeling and pro-engineering correspondence allow engineering companies to design products or components for machinery, taking care of even the minutest of details. The entire process saves time and money and ensures exactitude and exactness. With increasing erudition in many industries, the design concepts done using CAD are directly fed into the manufacturing process using Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) systems. Electrical and electronic engineering industries use CAD for things like Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs and wiring layout (WL) designs. CAD is also used to design the generally layout of a manufacturing unit.

It wouldn't be extreme fetched if one were to say that CAD has revolutionized the complete engineering progression. CAD engineering enables earlier product turn around times, as a result of which we see more and more new products hitting the market everyday. Computer Aided Design engineering is responsible for the initiation of robotics into the manufacturing sector, with more and more engineering processes being automated for increased accuracy and production.

  1. Hey there! I will be looking forward to visit your page again and for your other posts as well. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about cad design jobs. I'm glad to stop by your site and know more about cad design jobs. This is a good read. Keep it up!
Beginning in the 1980s computer-aided design programs reduced the need of draftsmen significantly, especially in small to mid-sized companies. Their affordability and ability to run on personal computers also allowed engineers to do their own drafting work, eliminating the need for entire departments. In today's world, many students in universities do not learn manual drafting techniques because they are not required to do so. The days of hand drawing for final drawings are all but over. Universities no longer require the use of protractors and compasses to create drawings, instead there are several classes that focus on the use of CAD software.
One of the principal duties and responsibilities of having cad design jobs is to perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision and with the utmost sense of urgency.

  3. I am a current Mechanical Engineer student and when I look for internships they ask for autocad knowledge. Very few companies seem to use solidworks. Would it be helpful to learn autocad instead of solidworks?.

    Solidworks
